The 12mm Boa HMS has all the versatility of its alloy sibling, but has a rated strength of 40kN. It can be used for many applications where a large gate opening or high internal volume are required. The smooth rounded internal form is very useful when rotating the carabiner through attachment eyes, and the basket curves nicely to allow central hanging of loaded components.

The Klettersteig shape takes the strength and volume increases of an Offset D and then extends them even further to give a high volume, super-strong connector. The Klettersteig’s wide gate opening makes it particularly suitable for clipping oversize items, or simply allows ease of use in more normal situations.

An Offset D connector takes the spinal loading strength of a D-shaped back but extends the basket at one end to maximize gate opening and overall size without compromising ergonomics and weight. Cold forged from 12mm bar, the strengths achieved in testing exceed 45kN and it is first choice in applications requiring stronger connectors in their systems.

Petzl’s Oxan carabiner is ideal for use in difficult environments. The high-strength steel construction creates major axis strength of up to 38kN while keeping weight down to as little as 185g. The symmetrical oval shape makes the Oxan easy to handle, allowing optimal loading of the carabiner in a wide range of situations. The design also allows Oxan to be connected to Petzl’s Captiv bar to keep the carabiner in ideal position, limiting the risk of it flipping and ensuring it remains integrated with the device. Two locking systems are available. Firstly, the automatic Triact-Lock system, with triple-action gate opening. Alternatively, the manual Screw-Lock system is available, with a red band providing a visual warning of an unlocked carabiner.

The spelling of Karabiner with a ‘K’ derived from the German word ‘Karabinerhaken’ which means ‘snap hook’. Carabiner with a ‘C’ derived from the French word ‘Carabine’ which means ‘rifle’, and it slowly became the more common way of spelling Carabiner. There’s no right or wrong, as long as you have a C(K)arabiner in your kit, you’ll be fine! We have a wide range of carabiners with different locking systems, sizes, materials and colours, so you’re bound to find something you want here.
