Why Kit inspection is legally required:

Under the Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998 (LOLER), the Provision and USe of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER) and the Working at Height Regulations 2005 (WHR), all height safety PPE used in a professional or commercial context must be thoroughly examined by a competent, independent person at least every six months. Each item must have a written inspection record, and that record must be kept for a minimum of two years. Furthermore, if your equipment has been involved in a fall, shock-load, or any other exceptional event, it must be inspected before it goes back into use, regardless of when it was last examined.
