Beal Expresso Fit Adjustable Lanyard

The original BEAL Expresso already has a strong following among sport and multi-pitch climbers who wanted a smarter lanyard than a simple sewn sling. The Expresso Fit takes that foundation and adds full adjustability, a solid upgrade for anyone who's found themselves faffing with knots at a hanging belay or fighting a fixed-length lanyard while trying to set up a rappel on a cold ledge.

The key design move is replacing the second strand with a sewn Dyneema loop. Where a conventional double lanyard gives you two separate arms to manage, the Expresso Fit consolidates that into one adjustable arm plus one fixed loop, dramatically reducing the tangle factor. This clever system allows you to run a rappel on a single strand cleanly, and the Dyneema loop keeps the overall package compact enough to live on your harness.

The rope element is 9.5mm dynamic rope, which is the same dynamic construction you'd want in a lanyard used for a fall. A static sling transmits the full force of a fall to your harness and anchor; the dynamic rope here absorbs some of that energy, which matters on any fall where the lanyard goes taut. The ergonomic adjustment system lets you set the working length precisely anywhere between 40cm and 100cm, so you can position yourself exactly where you want to be at a belay station rather than settling for whatever the fixed length gives you.

The Expresso Fit comes with a carabiner included, making it usable straight out of the box and a solid choice for the price-conscious customer. At 240g for the complete set, it's a lightweight and well-considered piece of kit.
